This is a short story for LionKingRulez and the rest of the FantasyFilms Crew. It takes place after Simba, Timon and Pumbaa's adventures of Who Framed Roger Rabbit.
'Man, I'm exhausted!' Simba moaned as he dropped himself down on the soft grass. 'Ditto, Simba' said his wife, Nala, as she to flopped down next to Simba.
The two lions looked behind them and saw that the rest of their friends had also stopped for a rest, Timon and Pumbaa, Sebastian, Genie, Louis the Alligator, King Louie, Rutt and Tuke, Terk and Tantor, King Julien, Mort and Maurice, Fu Dog and finally their newest member, Roger Rabbit, who was nearly at the brink of passing out.
The Jungle Crew had only just left Hollywood after helping clear Roger's name from a crime he didn't commit. Afterwards, Roger had decided to join their team to see the world. And had promised to write everyday to his wife, Jessica.
'I'm so hungry I could eat a horsefly!' Timon complained. 'Well, maybe half a horsefly, but still'
'I'm not hungry' King Louie puffed. 'All I want is a small break from all these adventures we keep running into!'
'You know something' Pumbaa said, hearing what Louie had said. 'Why don't we? Why don't we have a little rest?'
'Say guys! I've got it!' Timon piped up. 'Why don't we take a break from all these adventures? We could have a picnic or something!'
Sebastian the crab rolled his eyes, clearly seeing that Timon just wanted credit for someone else's idea, but he decided to go along with it. 'The meerkat's right, fellas'
'Why don't we have it here then, eh?' said Tuke. 'It's pretty nice and there's not a cloud in the sky'
He was quite right. They had stopped in a small forest. There were many trees for shade and it was perfumed with the fragrance of wild flowers.
'Well what'd ya say, guys?' Terk asked the two exhausted lions.
Simba and Nala looked at each other and nodded, smiling.
'Well, this calls for some magic!' Genie said, rolling up his sleeves (or his arms).
In no time, there was a blue puff of smoke, and a picnic was laid upon the clearing of the forest, containing all of the crew's favorites. Bugs, fruits, etc. Everybody sat around the the large blanket full of food and began digging in. All except for Roger Rabbit.
'Hey, Rog! There's some carrots for you!' Louis called to their new friend. 'Come and join us!'
But the only response from Roger was a soft snore.
'Aww, just look at him' Tantor pointed his trunk over Louis's shoulder.
Roger was curled up against a large oak tree, fast asleep.
'He must have been so tired, he just hit the sack, eh?' said Rutt.
'Who can blame him, though?' Maurice added. 'The last few days for him have been pretty uptight. You know, almost getting dipped and all. The poor guy probably didn't get any rest at all since Marvin Acme's murder'
'Aww the poor fella!' Mort whined, kneeling on....
'Mort! What have I told you about the feet?!' King Julien snapped, shaking Mort off.
'Leave some food for Roger, fellas' Fu Dog said to his friends. 'Can't let him miss out'
An hour later, Roger started to wake up to a soft nudge against his cheek. It was Nala.
'Morning' Roger yawned.
Nala giggled a little. 'It's still afternoon, Rog. Now come and have something to eat. You need to'
Roger rubbed his eyes and laid them on the bowl of carrots placed in front of him, by Pumbaa.
'We had a small picnic. But you were off in dreamland. Fu Dog told us to save some food left for you. Besides, me and Timon aren't really carrot lovers'
'Gee, thanks guys' Roger said, happily taking a carrot and taking a bite.
The rest of the Jungle Crew had found a small creek nearby to cool off in. Genie, Julien, Maurice, Mort and Fu Dog, were sunning themselves on the shore and Simba, Timon, Sebastian, Rutt and Tuke, Louis, Tantor and Terk and King Louie were diving and splashing in the cool water.
Nala, Pumbaa and Roger finally turned up. Roger was still holding the bowl of carrots.
'Thanks for the carrots, Genie' said Roger.
'No problem, rabbit boy' Genie replied.
Later on, the whole crew was up on shore, drying themselves off. Timon was going on about how energised he felt to keep moving on their travelling. Louis was sitting against a tree, blowing a tune from his trumpet. Julien was telling Maurice to get him a new leaf for a towel. And Simba was looking on all of them, smiling with Nala next to him.
Roger Rabbit was also his toony self again, and ready to keep going.
It just comes to show that an Adventure crew needs a break every now and then to recharge.
